Depression
We all have moments and times in our lives when we might feel a little flat, under the weather or sad. During those times it’s always helpful to reach out to someone in your circle of friends and tell them how you’re feeling.
Feeling sad, down or miserable most of the time, or having lost interest or pleasure in usual activities are some of the common symptoms of depression, but it’s also important to note that not everyone who is experiencing depression will have all of these symptoms. So if you have some of the symptoms and they’re not going away, it’s worth talking to either your GP or a professional counsellor to see if you might be suffering from depression.
There is no shame in being honest with how you’re feeling, in fact there is terrific freedom in being able to have an open, honest conversation with either a friend or a professional. Sharing our problems in a safe space can often help us feel better as we’re no longer struggling alone or in silence, and is often the first step in us getting help to fell better and start moving forward.
